Tourist guide

The town of Millau is known for its viaduct, which is the highest in Europe. Have a look close's possible to visit it! In the Gorges du Tarn with their Jonte and La Dourbie cliffs (500m high), you can try your hand at canoeing or paragliding. Follow in the footsteps of the Knights Templar in the Larzac Valleys. For caving lovers, the depths of the Causse Méjean, the underground Bramabiau river and the Dargilan pink grotto are must-see sites. In Peyreleau lies the extraordinary site of Montpellier-le-vieux, which, according to legend, transhumant shepherds confused with a large ruined town. One of the biggest hydroelectric sites in France is located in the heart of Aveyron.
There are no fewer than five lakes, including Pareloup (the biggest artificial lake in the south of France), which just invite you to have a go at a range of water sports. To immerse yourselves in the world of insects, visit the Cité des insectes in Saint-Léons, which is dedicated to entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre. Foodies will want to explore Roquefort thoroughly by stopping off at the cellars where the famous cheeses mature in raw ewe's milk from the Causses area. In the neighbouring department of Lozère, Cévennes National Park runs on from the Gorges du Tarn and has some stunning landscapes. The lively city of Montpellier is just a hundred or so kilometres away.
